Nick Jackson – Berlin Tour Guide

Nick Jackson

I’m Nick, I’m from London, and I graduated with a degree in Archaeology at University College London in 1989. I excavated widely in the Near East for a decade, and after a research post at Cambridge University, I moved to Berlin. It has been my home for over 20 years.

I work in Berlin primarily as a guide, and my favorite tour themes include Berlin during World War I and the 1920s, Berlin as the capital during World War II, the fall of Berlin in 1945, Berlin East and West / Then and Now, Berlin architecture, and off the beaten path Berlin.

As a Ricks Steves recommended Berlin guide, I have divided my time between book research, Berlin touring, Nazi bunkers, travel journalism, lecturing on WWII Europe, television documentaries, in additional to the archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean.

I was a guest lecturer at Stanford in Berlin on Holocaust tourism and University College London on the ancient history of Syria. I am also a long-term member of the Berlin Underworlds Association (Berliner Unterwelten e.V.), documenting and researching Berlin’s underground history.

My other areas of expertise are touring the collections of the Pergamon Museum and the New Museum. I can add context and texture that brings these museum collections to life.
