Forrest Holmes – Berlin Tour Guide

I’m Forrest and I’m a native of New Mexico, but have been living and guiding in Berlin since 2010. I completed a Master’s degree in German History from Cardiff University and have taught and researched at the Freie Universität Berlin.

My guiding experience has encompassed public and private tours in Berlin and the surrounding region by foot, bike, and bus. I have worked for established local tour operators and leading shore excursion agencies, as well as corporate clients, university, and other educational and memorial organizations. Through this work, I have shared my passion for history with people of all ages from all over the world.

Since 2015, I have led and helped to design small-group cultural excursions throughout Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Italy), expanding my appreciation and understanding of the history, geography, and gastronomy of this fascinating part of the globe.

I am licensed to give tours at the Cecilienhof Palace, the site of the 1945 Potsdam Conference, at which Stalin, Churchill, and Truman met to discuss the fate of a defeated Germany, and at the Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum.

I have been a member of the BBS since 2015 and served on its Board of Directors twice. I have been called a gifted and engaging communicator, and I look forward to enriching your stay in Berlin and Germany!
